Copy me

Hello everyone, we are now on the countdown to coming home. Its getting really hot here and because we stay in a lot everyone is getting bored.

One thing I have learnt to do over the past week is to copy my mummy and daddy. I love rubbing my hands together just like daddy and I really like blowing on my food (mummy does this before she lets me eat my dinner. Its soooo annoying because all I want to do is eat!).

Sorting

Over the past few days I have become very good at sorting shapes and stacking my cups. Apparently all babies around my age like doing this and I have to say its lots of fun! Before when mummy showed me how to stack my cups I would just knock them over but now I think very carefully about which size cup fits on which. Mummy has also put lots of things like pegs, pasta in bottles and empty shower gel bottles into a big box and I love playing with them.

Its starting to get really hot now so mummy and I are staying in a lot more,especially in the afternoons. Mummy says its very humid. I don't know what that means but I know that when we are out I feel very hot and I drink lots of water. Mummy face turns a very bright pink which is quite funny!

Walking more than crawling

Since taking my first steps a few weeks ago I'm getting more and more confident and walk more than I crawl. I do crawl sometimes, especially if I want to get somewhere really quickly! I don't like anyone holding my hand either. Mummy says I'm quite indy-pendant. Or something like that!

Climbing!

Now that I can walk (and getting better everyday!) I've discovered climbing. And I love it! I know that mummy and daddy get into a right old panic when I start climbing over the sofa but its such good fun! I can now climb on the sofa on my own and I love to stand on the arms. Mummy makes funny noises when I do this. It sounds a bit like "OoooohhhhhAmelieBeeeeCarefullllllll"

A few days ago I discovered how to climb into my pram and stand up in it although I've only done that once. I might have another go tomorrow!

Food glorious food!

Before we went back to the UK for a visit mummy used to really worry about how much (or how little) I was eating. Most of my food went on the floor and sometimes I wouldn't eat anything for a few days. Now though mummy says that I have hollow legs as I eat a LOT!

My favourites foods are pesto pasta, brocolli and all types of fruit, especially grapes and strawberries (when we were in the UK I ate a whole punnet of strawberries. By myself!). Mummy and daddy are really pleased that I am eating again as I'm still small for my age.

Its getting hot in here

The Dubai summer is fast approaching and every day seems a little bit hotter than the day before. Mummy and I don't go out in the middle of the day anymore as its too hot and I get grumpy and a bit sleepy (so does mummy!).  All our activities are in the mornings now and we are home before midday everyday. Mummy takes me out again around 3pm but its still really hot. We try to stay in the shade which is much nicer.

I have a shade for my pram which protects me a bit from the sun but I don't like it as I can't see anything! I don't like my hat either and I'm always pulling it off and throwing it on the floor heehee! Mummy has bought a fan to attach to my pram and she's waiting for daddy to attach it (she says she will wait all year - I hope its before that!).

Not yet a water baby

I had my first swimming lesson last week. I have to say that I didn't enjoy it very much but I haven't been in a pool very often so mummy is hoping that I will get used to it. There are about eight babies in the class and we all have to practise blowing bubbles, jumping in to our mummy's arms from the side and going underwater. The teacher didn't put my head under because she could see that I was very nervous. Since the lesson mummy has taken me to the pool twice, once to my friend Cora's baby pool which was good as it was very warm and I could touch the bottom, and once with daddy to the big pool near our apartment. I have a really cool float which means that mummy and daddy don't have to carry me all the time.

Its getting really hot now so being in the water is nice and cooling.

My first words

I'm getting very talkative now and mummy and daddy can recognise a lot more words. My favourites are "mummy", "daddy" (I know which side my bread is buttered!), "car" (apparently all the Patel's say this word early!), "more" and "gone".

I also love books and make mummy read to me ALL the time (I particularly like grabbing mummy's hand and placing a book in it - heehee!). Sometimes poor mummy has to read the same book ten times in a row. Current favourites are 'Elmer's Weather' and 'Where's my Mummy'. Mummy loved reading when she was a little girl and she hopes I will love it just as much. I think I will!

Swings are fun!

When we were in the UK mummy took me to lots of parks. It was such fun and I loved the swings best of all. Before we came to Dubai I didn't like the swings at all but now I think they are brilliant. Here are some pictures that mummy took of me and my cousin Megan.

First steps

I took my first steps on May 1 2011 and I'm getting better everyday! As you can see from the video I'm rather pleased with myself.
